wonder woman and R2

I got a request to make a blanket and tee for a baby shower gift. The mama-to-be is having a girl and does NOT like the color pink. Could I please do red, white and blue?

"Hm", I fumbled. "I'm not sure I have any red, white and blue fabrics..."

I was really stumped. I am as patriotic as they come, but this color combo was just not in my usual repertoire.

Then I remembered that I did have some wonder woman fabric that had red, white and blue in it. So, we decided to give it a whirl. And I'm so glad I did, because I had a lot of fun.

Jessica insisted that I use this "V" denim pocket when I emailed her some potential candidates. Good call Jess!

I've been itching to embroider R2D2 for a while now, and Henry's birthday seemed the perfect opportunity( I am not allowed to embroider trademark characters to sell, but gift-giving is ok)

So, thanks Henry for turning one, so I could get this lovable droid out of my system. Happy Birthday!

Except that now Ollie wants one. He says "look mama, Henry's shirt matches my new grey cords."

  1. Davi Davi, I can't believe your talent! I just love looking at all your newest projects! Hey just wanted to let you know, I showed one of your superhero blankets on a news segment and they are quickly picking up in popularity up here, infact that afternoon after the news segment a girl called FROM THE HOSPITAL after having her baby and bought your blanket over the phone! ;) Anyway, all but one of the super hero's have sold (you'll be getting a check soon!) So if you are likin' the arrangement you could go ahead and keep the sewin' goin' :) I also LOOOOVE the clothes you do ya know, think they'd be a hit! Anyway, just lettin' ya know :) Have a great night!!!

  2. I need one of those Wonder Woman blankies for my SIL...she LOVED Wonder Woman as a kid!! =)

Super cute...your talent is amazing and I just know Lorie (and Henry) will love that little shirt!

  3. I love, love, love all of it!! Great job, as usual! And I love the outfit in the last pic, with the R2D2 shirt/striped shirt/cords. Sooo cute!

  4. Oh, I love them! As always, they are SOOOO adorable!

  5. So Very Cool!!!!! The R2D2 shirt is classic.

  6. WOW! How on earth do you do that?! I am really artsy fartsy, but I could NEVER make anything that cool! An iron on R2D2 is about as cool as I could get =) But what shocks me even more is how you find the TIME and CONSENTRATION to do that with 3 boys at home + a hubby! You are the super hero girlie! And I stand shocked!

  7. Cuuuuuuuuute! That stripey shirt under R2D2 is to die for!

  8. and Henry (and his mommy) are SO glad you used us to get R2 out of your system!!!!=) We LOVE it and thank you so much for coming to our little party!

    coffee? friday??? your porch???

  9. Adorable!!!! Ools needs one! I love it with the stripey shirt. How is the boy doing today?

  10. more amazing Davi craftiness!! What a good idea to do Wonder Woman for someone who is not overly girlie... it's perfect!!
And Henry's shirt is SOOO cute. Such beautifully detailed embroidery.

oh, and of COURSE we would invite you to our shrimp linguine night!! :)
