My Twain doll

As I sat embroidering yesterday, I remembered something from my childhood. As a kid, both of my cabbage patch kids were boys: James Bennett(my first born) and Lincoln Sheldon(my preemie). Do you remember your cabbage patch kids' names? And both of my sisters had girl cabbage patch kids.

Interesting, No?

Even before Finn was born, my mom had a hunch that I would have all boys.

Now how did she know that?

I am not sure, but here I am years later, holding my baby boy Twain doll.

And for the most part, he really is a complete doll.

(the boy doll I embroidered was an image from the Black Apple.)

Twain, at 5 months:

You LOVE to be on your tummy and scoot around in circles.

Almost every time I put you on your back, you flip right over. You are rolling around everywhere.

You love to grab your feet

And you love to suck on your hands.

You are pretty laid back, especially when we are on the go, running errands.

You are definitely a thumb sucker. My first baby to really suck his thumb.

And when you suck your thumb it usually means you are about to fall asleep.

Or it means you are hungry. Your very first(and only food) that you eat is mashed bananas.

I am soso happy that you are finally old enough to eat something.

Whenever my boys turn around 4 months old, I start to feel very worn out and overwhelmed from being their only source of food. And so it is always a relief when I can start giving them something to eat.

Things have been pretty hectic around here lately. Time is going by SO fast. I cannot believe Twain is already 5 months old.

This photo below is a bit blurry, as is my life at times, but it's how I want to remember it: Sitting, enjoying my baby as life races by in a blur.

How I love this baby doll!

  2. Oh, man! He is such a beautiful baby!

And now I am tripping out! I had four Cabbage Patch dolls: the first two were boys (one belonged to my brother, but he gave the doll to me quite quickly), and the next two were girls. Whooooaaaaaa! I have never thought about that before. Who knew that Cabbage Patch dolls could give a hint about your future?! ;-D Seriously, that is kind of funny!

  3. I had a girl cabbage patch doll...I'm pretty sure her name was Charlotte (which is one of the names Shaun has said no to).

  6. SO cute.

My first Cabbage Patch was of a different race. I didn't want a boy, so I got a girl. I think my sister tried to talk me out of it, but I couldn't be swayed. I thought boys were yucky.

  7. What a sweet sweet baby! He reminds me so much of Calvin.

I got a boy doll first too. His name was Terry. Then, I got a girl. Her name alternated between Christina, Lydia, and Kristin.

I also had Alanna Myra, and Meta, and Alyssa Jacqueline Mae, and Chase David, and Luke Andreas...and there were more too...

I remember their names because I've always loved to name things. We named all of our cows growing up...and my sister still names them because she is at home. We even had a baby name book in the milk house of our barn!

  15. Hi! My name is Jennifer, and Suzanne told me about your blog when I went to Strawberry Patches one day. She adores you! : ) I like to sew, but can't do much else and I love your onesies. Our #3 is a boy and he is due on Feb 6. Would you have some time between now and then to maybe make one or two long-sleeved onesies with some cute embroidery? Just tell me the price. They are so stinkin' adorable. I don't even have any suggestions on what to make him ( we think his name is Rhett) because everything you do turns out cute. You can blog back a reply when you have time or email me at babyjackbabysack@yahoo.com. Thanks!

  17. Cutest pictures ever, cutest baby ever, cutest outfit ever!

Ok, here's my theory. Stick with me, I gave it great thought. I had two girl cabbage patches and ended up with four girls. You had two boy cabbage patch kids, and ended up with four boys. So Lindsay, with her one girl cabbage patch, will have two girls. It's highly scientific!

  18. He is so scrumptious! My cabbage patch was named Anastasia. She had red hair and I cried when I got her because it was during all the frenzy and I had waited and waited for her to be delivered. I think I still have her somewhere. My mom kept everything!

  20. oh and I don't remember my cabbage patch dolls name because she was a hand-me down doll. but ironically she had red hair =) Henry likes to drag her around the house by the hair lately. I told him that is no way to treat a lady.

  33. I finally couldn't resist commenting! Your family is darling, and the baby is just too adorable! I've enjoyed scrolling down and reading your posts. I needed a little lift and seeing those sweet baby cheeks was a good one! My youngest (now 2) still has the chubby cheeks, but there's just something about that little baby face! :)
