that time of year

Hm...Can anyone guess what I am doing?

As I type this I am happily listening to my printer whirring and buzzing.

Tis one of my favorite times of year. I told John that my dream for this year what to work on my Christmas cards while sipping hot cocoa, listening to Christmas carols, right next to my Christmas tree. Doesn't that sound grand?

Well, I am not drinking cocoa, we listened to Ramsey and Focus on the Family instead of music and we have no Christmas tree. We currently have NO room in our house for a tree, because Finn's drums are in the way. And all this may be remedied very soon. We have someone very interested in buying the pool table. If all goes well, a crew may be whisking away my pool table at 1 pm tomorrow. And then I can move Finn's drums and buy a tree. Hopefully.

  1. That's my dream too - except I want to sip hot tea or cider.

  2. I'm still working on mine too. I'd love to bust out some cider or hot chocolate but knowing me I would spill it all over the cards! Hope you sell your pool table!

  3. I made peppermint hot cocoa yesterday. It was so yummy...so I took some to my neighbor (who's moving away to TX in 2 weeks) so we could sip cocoa and watch our baby boys play with each other.

    Sounds great, right?

It was...until one of the babies knocked Ashley's cup over and we didn't notice it until there was a 9" hot choc stain on the carpet...right in the middle of the living room...of the house they're trying to sell! Ahhh!

Anyway, I'm still working on my cards too...but my printer ran out of ink just as I started printing. Oh joy!

  4. Ugh, you are so good that you have your letter done. My cards are done, envelopes stamped and addressed since last week... I just can't force myself to sit down and write that stinkin' letter! :)

I love doing Christmas cards. And receiving them. It may be my like one of my top ten favorite things about the whole year. :)

Can't wait to see yours, I know they'll be adorable!

  5. im so glad you got the box! and i am SOOOO sorry if the cookies were stale and/or if the ones with frosting were completely destroyed! for reason i sent it the day before thanksgiving so it got there later than it should have. i take no offense whatsoever if the cookies were actually tossed immidiately! :o)
also i dont think i explained the shea butter. the packaging was a bit faded from making the trip from bakersfield to nashville BUT it is really good stuff. all natural organic fair trade shea butter that would be excellent for your growing tummy! (or anywhere else for that matter)
i knew youd like mikes drawing :o) thats why i asked him to do it.
    we love you!!

  6. Sounds like the perfect evening. I'm sure they are pretty much the cutest things ever (as usual).

    Unfortunately, I haven't even taken pictures yet...ahhhhh!!!

Planned on doing it today, but it's so cold and grey. Hopefully it'll work out because I am BEHIND!

  7. If I e-mail you my address, can I pretty please have one of your Christmas cards??? :) (is that bad etiquette to ask? I have no clue, but I don't care.)I bet they are the cutest ever, and I LOVE Christmas cards!

I hope you can get a tree soon! You've been trying to get rid of that pool table for a while now...

  9. Oh my goodness. So jealous of people who make their own cards. I usually just throw something together in photoshop these days. Two things on my "list of things to do before I kick the bucket" that I want to be good at.... sewing and scrap-booking. Seems as though you're an old pro at both of these things. I'm jealous.

I'm hoping to do something fabulous as a birth announcement though. But that will likely require my cousin Christine coming down and helping me. (aka... doing it for me.)

  12. I was in such a rush to get my Christmas cards out this year that I used a family picture I did not even really like but had them in the mail last week! THEN this weekend we took an absolutely perfect family picture so I asked Ryan if I could send out ANOTHER Christmas card to everyone ... but he said no =( I love Christmas cards =) And I just love that you are adding a letter to it! I love those the best!

  13. Wow, you've got 3 boys, you're pregnant, and you're making Christmas cards. If it wasn't against the 10 commandments, I might both idolize you and covet your crafty skills. *sigh* But I am not breaking those. *ahem*
I absolutely adore sending and receiving Christmas cards. It's just about one of my most favorite things about Christmas. I'd rather get cards than presents, especially when the cards include pictures or letters or both! I haven't even started on my own yet but I WILL get it done, even if it's much later than I had hoped.

PLEASE post a picture of your cards, I am dying to see one!
