Lately

My computer is still down and so I did the best I could with this post. Getting pics to load properly on this old laptop is a bear.

1. In case you didn't already know, I get to go to physical therapy twice a week for some minor knee and back/core issues.

Basically, like 2 weeks ago, I had my first back spasm after lifting something incorrectly and it FREAKED ME OUT. Talk about shock to system, yowza. Dr W. was like "get in shape girl" and hand me paperwork for PT.

Lucky me, I get the best PT in town. He is truly amazing. And he is stuck with me.

My new accessory is this resistance band, which Calvin and John want as a sling shot.

While on the table doing one particular {miserable} exercise I accidentally blurted "I hate you!" to my poor PT. Omyword. Whoopsie. After I apologized profusely, he laughed and was like "I've heard much worse".  He's such a good sport.

We had a theological discussion on the subject of predestination, as he was stretching my leg right off. I'm pretty sure he won.

I then hopped off the table and announced "I have to whiz!" You should have seen the startled look on his face, followed by a laugh. Seriously, what is wrong with me? Could I be more awk?

Today when he asked me what kind of talents/skills I had, I listed a few things....and added on "shopping" at the end.

He was like "Davi. Shopping is NOT a skill."

I said, "Yes, it IS."

I mean, you'd agree with me...shopping IS a skill, right?

All of a sudden I feel extra sorry for him that I am his patient.

Though it could be worse. At least I am wearing deodorant for the first time in like 10 years(tmi), just for PT. John made me. And then I go home and wash it off. Because I am a nut--John just shakes his head. In my defense I rarely sweat. But this summer has been a doozy. So. I make allowances. Consider yourself special if I will put deodorant on for you;)

2. I have been doing a lot with Pastor Cesar and Maria this summer with the kids from the reading program. It's my home away from home. A big chunk of my heart is there. Being there just grounds me. Big time. Which I need desperately. I can be so fickle and worldly at times.

My favorite new thing is face-painting for the kids. It's SO MUCH FUN to make a little girl feel beautiful with all that glitter and paint.

We have VBS this week for these kids and so it's gonna be a big week for me.

3. I bought a new rug, inspired by Loriloo. Thanks for letting me copycat Loo!

I decided to redo the wall above the couch. I thought it needed something fresh and new. Bought this arrow/ombre/metal thing at target.

And I have a wee confession. For over a year, I've disliked the color aqua. Just OD'd on it. And I'm now happy to report that I've gotten over my aversion. Aqua and I are good friends again. I think the wall would look less serious with a few pops of aqua.

I ordered these two items at Urban. (print on the left, and cubbies on right)

My sister Jessica talked me into the wooden cubbies. I'm not 100% that these cubbies are my style. But I do like them. And Jessica suggested I put some of my cacti in them. Which I DO think will be cute. We shall see.

Oh and I think the globe adds a nice pop of aqua. I will be adding one of those too.

Pilates is a great one for strength and it gives you nice curves, I'm an instructor been debating posting a few pilates tutorials on my blog, hehe would be so awkward though;)
Oh and I completely agree- my husband has MAD shopping skills, he always gets the best stuff on sale!

  3. So what is your issue with deodorant? Have you used those crystal things? Just curious. Just you wait until those four boys start stinking big time in a few years. I'll bet you'll change your tune and be buying it by the case! Just say'n

    1. my trusty neighbor said the crystal things don't help her, so i'm hesistant to try.

Mostly all my life, I just never sweat and so I would never remember to use it. In the winter esp. But I did hear that aluminum in deodorant can contribute to Alziemhers and breast cancer, but who knows. I haven't researched it enough. If I don't have to use a chemical I don't. But if I have to use it, I will. Just a trade off. For example, my makeup has toxins but I feel like i need to wear it;)

  5. Shopping is definitely a skill! And {based on your steals that you show here} you are HIGHLY skilled!

Just curious: do you not wear deodorant because of aluminum? Or just because you don't like it?

  6. I looked high and low on Lorie's blog for more information on that rug. I LOVE IT! Where is it from? Thanks :)

  8. Wait, you don't wear deodorant? I don't think I could survive without it. It makes me feel so clean and happy! Why the aversion? Health reasons?

  9. ... soo.... the deodorant confession... me too! haha but seriously, i do NOT sweat. It's like a condition. Instead I just get really red/purple/look like I'm refusing to breath. But no perspiration. But I will wear it sometimes if I feel like I really should. The whole time, I smell it. And it makes me NUTS. My husband tells me I'm gross, but admits I don't stink haha

  10. Hey, I swore off deodorant last winter too! Now that it's summer I've started using Tom's deodorant (because I DO sweat--a lot!). I don't usually have an issue with odor, so this mild stuff works great. It's not an antiperspirant, and it's all natural ingredients (my beer-brewing husband gets a kick out of the fact that there are hops in my deodorant). It's so my gentler on my skin, I've been thrilled with it.

    1. oh man, you are so lucky that tom's works for you. for whatever reason it didn't work with my chemistry and made everything worse:( but i'm so happy for ya!

  11. Bahaha! I'm sure your PT loves you keeping him on his toes. And your house looks like something out of a magazine! Yes, shopping is a skill. Please teach me the art of decorating, we shopping for cute decorative items. :)

  12. Oh my word, that cubby may not be exactly your style but it is exactly MY style and I want!! Yes, cacti would be perfection in there. P.S. I suck to the moon and back at accessorizing. (Mostly because I don't spend money). See I know you're super frugal too, do you have a budget for that sort of thing? Or just buy stuff that's cheap? I need to update my hizzouse.

i get $25 per month as my personal spending money--for coffee, or decorations. otherwise i have to save my money and earn it myself! which i do. and i love to shop the deals. i go to goodwill a lot.

  13. Hooray for redecoration! I am obsessed with your couch, btw. I like your choices, they are worthy of the couch wall for sure... Shopping is definitely a skill, an art even. And if you didn't have such awesome shopping skills then your house wouldn't be so darn cute. Also- i don't think announcing the needs of your bladder is socially unacceptable. If it is, then I'm in trouble. Oh well, at least we can be awkward together.

  14. I have had to stop at the store to purchase deodorant after realizing I forgot to apply it. I'm so jealous of you "I don't use deodorant" people! You do have the knack for decorating Davi! I should take you with me to shop!

  15. Guess who's back.. back again.. the Davi's is back.. tell a friend..!
I am sorry to hear about the back and hips... hope that is a 'quick' good fix. Does sound like it could create a lot of pain. Keep working it lady!
I think you are aware of my strong feelings about the new decor... but just in case you forgot... it's INCREDIBLE!
to help with the band situation...
Step one: play one game of tug a war...
    Step two: let go.
    Hope that helps;)

  16. Love those new accessories headed your way! Some sweet succulents would be perfect nestled in there!

Would you mind sharing where that first rug is from? I'm deep in the throes of rug shopping and goodness gracious it's exhausting. Love that second one from Urban, but I think the tinier triangles would work better for us.
