Super delivery

I hurriedly took a shower tuesday, so I would not miss the arrival of the brown truck. And this time, we were not waiting for drums. Oh no, this time the delivery was for me. Hours went by and no brown truck. Finally, just past 5, Finn came running up to tell me the truck was here. Her maiden voyage from New York was finally over.

Though I waited so long for this day to come, I did not take any pictures immediately. I was kind of shell-shocked and overwhelmed by all the booklets and CDs my camera came with. John told me to ignore all that stuff, at least for now. I decided that I must first finish a little sewing project, before I got swept away by my new camera. My house was a mess of fabric and thread and I could not stand it much longer.

I finished my sewing project today and decided to take my camera for a spin. Here we go. I almost neglected to even blog about my new camera, but I thought it would seem odd if all of a sudden my pictures looked sort of different--I am still saving up for Photoshop.
*my sister Jessica ex-nayed my first two font options for SUPER HEROES and helped me select the one here.*

I was not planning on sewing Ollie another blanket, but I accidently stumbled upon this fabric on the world wide web and my heart skipped a beat. I had been looking for Aquaman fabric for a while and had pretty much given up hope that it even existed.

I was going to line the back in some heavenly mustard yellow fabric, but it seemed a little toasty for the Summer and Fall. So I lined it with the Super Hero fabric. Besides, I had been itching to use some of the other characters, but there just wasn't room enough on front.

Here's the smokin' Wonder Woman.

And I confess, I was unfamiliar with Marvin and Wendy, but instantly fell in love with Wendy's adorable blue hair and Marvin's funky orange pants. Apparently they were teenage sidekicks to the Super Friends.

And here's Marvin's pet, Wonderdog. Might be cute embroidered on a tee!

And what is that in your mouth Ollie? My lens cap? Oh no, no, Ollie, you can't have that. Give it back to mama.

Jeepers, from the look on his face, you'd think I stole candy from a baby!

  14. Beautiful blanket.

You're right...Wonder Dog would be great on a t-shirt. I love the Rruff (when you have a last name like Ruff you're better off embracing it than being embarrassed by it!).

  18. I just wanted to thank you for the sweet and encouraging comment you left for me on my Annabelle post. I could not agree more! And I am so sorry to hear that you are dealing with the same sort of behavior, but at the same time it was so comforting to know that it's not just my child! :)
We shall pray for each other, dear! ALL of us mommies need all the encouragement and prayer we can get.

  19. Yay for the camera!!!! I'm so excited for you!! That is the exact camera that Jeremy is salivating over, but he is trying to convince himself that he is okay with the Nikon or last year's Rebel something-or-other. But really, he wants the 40-D, so I am very, very excited that you have it!! And I can't wait to see all of the gorgeous pictures that will come from you using it!! :)

That blanket is completely stunning - I love it! I am seriously jealous of your talent!! And the crying Ollie pic is adorable! :-P

  20. Hi there :) I've been reading your blog for quite some time, I can't remember if I've ever commented before? Anyway, my husband's a teacher also! And I am sooooo amazed by yours AND your sons talents! I even showed my FIL finn's mad drum creations :) He's a drummer so he was VERY impressed!
Well, all of this to ask you a few sewing questions LOL I was wanting to attempt your blanket pattern but was wondering 1- do you wash your fabric before sewing and 2 - do you use any batting? I'd really appreciate any help you could give me!
